Bijou
A spirit-forward riff on the classic Bijou that splits Green and Yellow Chartreuse to soften the drink's herbal intensity.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Gin — Preferably botanical but not overly citrusy
- 0.5 oz Green Chartreuse
- 0.5 oz Yellow Chartreuse
- 1 oz Sweet vermouth
- 1 dash Orange bitters
Story
After asking for something more spirit-forward than the Chartreuse Swizzle, the conversation moved toward stirred classics. The first stop was a split-Chartreuse variation on the Bijou, using both Green and Yellow Chartreuse to balance intensity with softer honeyed notes.
Method
- Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with cubed ice.
- Stir until thoroughly chilled and diluted.
- Strain into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass.
- Garnish with a lemon twist or cherry.
Notes
- The original Bijou traditionally uses only Green Chartreuse; this version intentionally splits the Chartreuse base.
