Ingredients

  • 1 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Aperol
  • 0.75 oz Blanc vermouth
  • 0.25 oz Strega

Story

I identified Strega as my “Yellow Chartreuse alternative” while looking for a Negroni substitute. You suggested this “Yellow Negroni” variant, using blanc vermouth to bridge the gap and limiting the Strega to a quarter-ounce so its intense mint and saffron notes provide a “botanical zing” rather than overwhelming the drink.

Method

  1. Combine gin, Aperol, blanc vermouth, and Strega in a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Stir until very cold.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
  4. Garnish with a lemon twist to complement the Strega.

Notes

  • Strega is high-proof and powerful; a “fat barspoon” can be used if you prefer a more subtle herbal influence.
