Gilded Dream
A lush, velvety variation that swaps dry vermouth for blanc to create a honeyed, aromatic profile with a minty finish.
Ingredients
- 2 oz London dry gin — High-proof preferred (45–47% ABV)
- 0.75 oz Blanc vermouth — Dolin Blanc
- 0.25 oz Strega
- 2 dashes Orange bitters
Story
This drink emerged when the inventory shifted from dry vermouth to blanc. You initially suggested the Writer’s Block (using Yellow Chartreuse), but once Strega was introduced as the primary herbal modifier, this gilded version became the definitive path for a spirit-forward, gin-based build that emphasizes the vanilla notes of the vermouth.
Method
- Combine gin, blanc vermouth, Strega, and bitters in a mixing glass.
- Fill with ice and stir for 30–40 seconds until the glass is frosted.
- Strain into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora.
- Express a wide lemon peel over the drink to bridge the mint and saffron notes.
Notes
- High-ABV gin is critical here — blanc vermouth’s sweetness can make a softer gin feel flabby.
- The London Dry sibling to Botanical Dream (Hendrick’s version) — same template, different gin philosophy.
