Alpine Martinez
A richer Martinez variation layering gin, sweet vermouth, and Amaro Nonino into a deep, herbal, winter-leaning stirred cocktail.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Old Tom Gin — London Dry gin also works
- 0.75 oz Amaro Nonino
- 0.5 oz Sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash Orange bitters
Story
This cocktail came from the same run of Amaro Nonino and gin exploration, but took a darker turn than the brighter sour-style drinks. The idea evolved by pulling the profile toward a Martinez structure — richer vermouth, layered bitters, and deeper botanical notes — while letting Nonino replace some of the traditional sweetness and spice.
Method
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir until well chilled.
- Strain into a chilled coupe.
- Garnish with a cherry.
Notes
- Old Tom gin gives the drink a rounder texture and historically appropriate softness.
