Nonino Southside
A minty Southside riff where Amaro Nonino adds herbal bitterness and orange warmth beneath bright lime and crisp gin.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Gin
- 0.5 oz Amaro Nonino
- 0.75 oz Lime juice
- 0.5 oz Simple syrup
- 6-8 Mint leaves
Story
As the gin and Nonino discussion expanded, this cocktail appeared as a way to test how the amaro behaved in a brighter, greener drink. The original idea was essentially a Southside with extra depth, and the final form kept the refreshing mint-and-lime core while letting Nonino contribute bitterness and orange-herbal complexity.
Method
- Lightly clap mint leaves and place them in a shaker.
- Add remaining ingredients and ice.
- Shake hard until chilled.
- Double strain into a chilled coupe or a highball over fresh ice.
- Garnish with a mint sprig.
Notes
- Double straining helps keep mint fragments out of the finished drink.
