This drink came out of your request for a gin-based cocktail featuring Bénédictine, specifically something more spirit-forward rather than bright or refreshing. I initially suggested several established directions like the Rolls-Royce, Chrysanthemum variations, and a gin Old Fashioned-style build, but you didn’t select any of those. You then asked me to create an original recipe, which led directly to this formulation: a structured, stirred cocktail that borrows the dryness of a Martini while integrating the herbal depth of Bénédictine and the aromatic layering of bitters.

Method

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice until thoroughly chilled. Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora or coupe glass. Express a lemon peel over the surface and discard or use as garnish if preferred.
