  • 2 oz Mahia
  • 1 tsp Simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Aromatic bitters

Story

As we got more comfortable with Mahia, I asked if it could stand up in a purely spirit-forward drink. You suggested this Old Fashioned build to test its character. We landed on a minimalist preparation that lets the fig and anise shine, with just enough sugar and bitters to provide structure.

Method

  1. Build in the glass: add syrup and bitters, then Mahia.
  2. Add a large ice cube and stir for ~20 seconds.
  3. Garnish with an orange peel and a single star anise pod to echo the spirit’s profile.
