Ingredients

  • 1 oz Gin — Hendrick's recommended
  • 1 oz Mahia
  • 0.75 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz Simple syrup
  • 2 slices Cucumber

Story

Once I mentioned having Hendrick’s Gin on hand, the goal was to find a bridge between the gin’s delicate profile and the other bottles we’d been discussing. You suggested this sour because the cucumber in Hendrick’s naturally complements the anise notes in Mahia, creating a unified Mediterranean flavor profile.

Method

  1. Muddle the cucumber slices in the shaker.
  2. Add gin, Mahia, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  3. Shake vigorously with ice.
  4. Double strain into a chilled coupe to remove cucumber pulp.

Notes

  • Double-straining is required for clarity; otherwise cucumber pulp clouds the drink.
  • A garden cousin to the Fig & Cucumber Poet’s Dream in the catalog — same flavor pairing, different template (shaken sour vs stirred martini).
