Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Monkey 47 gin
  • 0.5 oz Green Chartreuse
  • 0.25 oz Luxardo maraschino liqueur
  • 0.5 oz Dolin Dry Vermouth
  • 1 dash Orange bitters
  • 2 dashes Cherry bitters

Story

This cocktail started when you asked for a unique recipe using Monkey 47 and Chartreuse. The first version leaned into a Black Forest profile with optional kirsch, maraschino, and dry vermouth. After asking for a substitute for kirsch, you chose cherry bitters as the direction to refine the drink. That final adjustment tightened the structure, reduced sweetness, and made the cherry note more aromatic than fruity.

Method

  1. Chill a Nick & Nora or coupe glass.
  2. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass filled with cubed ice.
  3. Stir for 20–30 seconds until properly chilled and diluted.
  4. Strain into the chilled glass.
  5. Express a lemon twist over the surface and discard, or garnish with a brandied cherry.

Notes

    • The original version included optional kirsch before being refined with cherry bitters.
