Green Ghost Rodeo
A smoky, surreal Old Fashioned of Green Chartreuse, mezcal, and orgeat with grapefruit oils and a ghost-town desert vibe.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Green Chartreuse
- 0.25 oz Mezcal
- 0.25 oz Orgeat
- 1 dash Orange bitters
- 1 dash Angostura bitters — Optional
- 1 pinch Sea salt — Optional
Story
The Green Ghost Rodeo emerged after asking for a smoky version of the Chartreuse Old Fashioned. Mezcal entered the picture as a subtle layer beneath the alpine herbs and almond sweetness. Once the drink existed, the conversation spiraled into surreal western imagery, eventually naming it Green Ghost Rodeo and building an entire ghost-town mythology around it, complete with menu copy and a wanted-poster design.
Method
- Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with cubed ice.
- Stir until chilled and silky.
- Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube.
- Express a grapefruit twist over the surface and garnish.
Notes
- Grapefruit oils work especially well with mezcal smoke and Green Chartreuse’s sharper herbal edges.
- This drink was later expanded into a fictionalized “wanted poster” menu concept during the conversation.
